It means Microsoft will no longer provide technical support to Windows 7 users. Any computers and other devices running the operating system will no longer be able to receive official software updates or critical security patches.
The company has recommended that users with systems running Windows 7 upgrade to Windows 10 to avoid security risks.
Those business and Café that relies on Windows 7 Professional can opt-in to Extended security updates which provide supplemental Windows 7 supports till January 2023.
Earlier in March 2019, Microsoft rolled out an update to Windows 7 that notifies existing users about the end of the support. The software maker has now stopped support for Windows 7 on January 14th, 2020.
Microsoft’s end of support date means that Windows 7 users will no longer receive security updates, and the company wants consumers to upgrade to Windows 10 PCs instead.
